About the Role

We are looking for a Principal Consultant for Green Infrastructure Projects to join our team at Matchtech. As a Senior/Principal Sustainable Transport Infrastructure Consultant, you will provide sustainability consulting and verification services for transport infrastructure projects.

You will lead and contribute to transport infrastructure decarbonisation projects, working with international developers to reduce carbon emissions across the asset lifecycle. Your expertise will help create more efficient, sustainable, and resilient transport systems.

Main Responsibilities

  • Lead and contribute to transport infrastructure decarbonisation projects involving sustainable and resilient infrastructure design, construction, operations, with focus on road transport but covering also types of infrastructure (e.g., airports, ports, railways).
  • Lead and contribute to the development of technical proposals primarily focused on infrastructure decarbonisation but with the possibility to contribute to wider transport-related projects.
  • Lead and contribute to business development activities leveraging your knowledge of the infrastructure industry and stakeholders, including infrastructure investors, developers, operators, international institutions and industry associations.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of sector technology developments, trends, challenges and regulations.

Key Requirements

  • Educated to a Bachelor's degree level or higher in civil engineering, environmental engineering or related fields.
  • Strong background in sustainable infrastructure design, construction, and operations, especially within road transport decarbonisation (although experience in additional types of infrastructure is positively valued).
  • Knowledge of low-carbon technologies and practices for infrastructure projects, including energy efficiency, sustainable materials, and resilient design.
  • Familiarity with appropriate data sources, constraints and national and international policies on infrastructure decarbonisation and climate action.
  • Understanding of the infrastructure industry, including key stakeholders, regulations, trends, and international standards.
  • Good communicator, written and verbally including the ability to convey technical subjects clearly and concisely to a range of clients.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a diverse team of specialists ranging from engineers, economists, policy experts to climate change experts.
  • Excellent time management with the ability to juggle time across multiple projects and prioritise deadlines seamlessly.
  • Fluency in English and excellent reporting writing skills.

Salary Range: £80,000 - £100,000 per annum
