We are seeking an experienced Electrical Design Engineer to join our team in Workington. As an Electrical Design Engineer, you will play a crucial role in delivering projects that push the boundaries of electrical design and contribute to the advancement of cleaner energy solutions and safe nuclear practices.

The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and developing bespoke remote handling equipment, robotic systems, and tooling for nuclear operations. This role encompasses a full project lifecycle, including consultancy, concept design, detailed design, manufacturing, testing, and on-site operations.

Key responsibilities include:

  1. Creating 2D detailed design drawings and schematics for control panels, machinery, and instrumentation using AutoCAD.
  2. Conducting and documenting detailed technical and design calculations.
  3. Supporting the build, installation, and commissioning of plant equipment and inactive test rigs for trialling new technologies.
  4. Preparing critical product safety documentation, including risk assessments, method statements, and maintenance manuals.
  5. Ensuring adherence to all legislative, regulatory, and company standards, including CE/UKCA marking, safety, quality, and risk policies.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Control & Instrumentation Engineering or related field with relevant experience.
  • Experience with 2D CAD design packages, ideally AutoCAD.
  • Working knowledge of safety legislation, quality standards, and CE/UKCA marking requirements.
  • Familiarity with nuclear plant operations and remote operations equipment.
  • Project experience from concept design through to delivery.

Salary Information:

The salary for this position is £50,000 - £65,000 per annum, depending on experience.
