Job Overview


The HSE Recruitment Network is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Safety Director to lead our client's construction business unit. This is a newly created role that requires a hands-on leader who can drive safety improvements and embed a positive safety culture.



About the Role


This position reports directly to the Central Head of SHEQ and has a dotted line into the Divisional MD, providing strategic guidance on health and safety initiatives and policies. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading and implementing a full HSE&W action plan for the business unit, identifying areas for improvement and developing strategies to mitigate risks.



Key Responsibilities



  • Develop and implement an effective HSE&W management system that aligns with industry best practices and regulatory requirements
  • Conduct site visits and audits to monitor compliance and identify areas for improvement
  • Provide expert advice on CAPEX requests and compliance-focused projects
  • Mentor and coach employees at all levels to promote a culture of safety and well-being
  • Collaborate with external stakeholders, including contractors and suppliers, to ensure a safe working environment
  • Oversee significant incident investigations and ensure lessons learned are communicated and implemented organization-wide


Requirements


To be successful in this role, you will require:



  • A relevant Diploma level Health and Safety Qualification
  • Experience working as part of a senior management structure for a business unit
  • Good knowledge of CDM 2015 regulations
  • A background in construction or an aligned sector would be beneficial
  • Proven experience in leading H&S improvement plans and initiatives, with a track record of delivering and improving safety performance, culture, and behaviors
  • Ability to influence and communicate across all levels and demographics
  • Engaging, enthusiastic, confident attitude
  • Proficiency to deliver at pace


Salary and Benefits


The salary for this position is £70,000-£90,000 + £7,500 car allowance, offering a competitive package that reflects the importance of this role within our client's organization.
