Transport Operations Manager

We are seeking a skilled Transport Operator to join our team at Fowler Welch. As a key member of our logistics team, you will be responsible for effectively managing vehicle utilization and ensuring drivers are given clear and precise instructions.
Key Responsibilities:- Plan and manage the effective utilization of drivers, vehicles, sub-contractors, and agencies to ensure all Company sites are fully considered.
- Ensure all drivers are working within a safe environment and follow driver hours regulations.
- Liaise with the Transport Supervisor to optimize fleet/driver utilization, identify and resolve problems affecting delivery on time.
- Assist in the control of equipment, ensuring customer requirements are met and recorded.
- Work with Compliance to ensure trucks are legal and information is downloaded in a timely manner.
- Support drivers with callouts and breakdowns.
- Inform customers of late or delayed deliveries using the relevant contact method.
- Build and match ASN's to loads ensuring compliance.
- Complete accident, incident, and near-miss paperwork.
- Track drivers using ISOTRAK/Microlise systems.
- Experience working within a distribution/transport environment.
- Experience managing own workload within a pressurized environment.
- Sound geographical knowledge.
- Basic understanding of driver's hours regulations/Tachograph law.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Strong communication skills (written and verbal).
- Initiative and ability to work unsupervised.
