About the Role:

As a key member of the Liberty Specialty Markets actuarial team, you will play a critical role in supporting the actuarial portfolio, pricing, and analytics functions to drive business performance, growth, and operational excellence. You will work closely with senior actuarial managers and other stakeholders to provide actuarial advice, drive business decisions, and develop strategic initiatives that enhance business outcomes.

About the Department & Team:

The actuarial team at Liberty Specialty Markets is responsible for evaluating business performance, providing risk-based views, and supporting business strategy and risk mitigation. The team collaborates with other functions to deliver actuarial support, data analytics, capital management, exposure management, and reinsurance purchasing and strategy. As a member of this team, you will contribute to the development of pricing models, risk governance frameworks, and strategic initiatives that drive business growth and improvement.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Support the development and implementation of pricing models, risk governance frameworks, and strategic initiatives that drive business growth and improvement.
  2. Collaborate with senior actuarial managers and other stakeholders to provide actuarial advice, drive business decisions, and develop strategic initiatives.
  3. Develop and maintain actuarial models, tools, and techniques to support business decisions and drive business outcomes.
  4. Work closely with data analytics, capital management, exposure management, and reinsurance purchasing and strategy teams to deliver actuarial support and drive business outcomes.
  5. Contribute to the development of actuarial policies, procedures, and guidelines that support business operations and risk management.
  6. Stay up-to-date with industry trends, regulatory requirements, and best practices in actuarial science and risk management.
Requirements:
  • Nearly/newly qualified actuary with relevant work experience in the general insurance, reinsurance, or consultancy field.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) with the ability to communicate complex actuarial concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to work with large datasets and complex actuarial models.
  • Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills with the ability to work with senior stakeholders and build effective relationships.
  • Strong skills in Excel, SQL, Python, R, PowerPivot, PowerBI, and DAX with the ability to develop and maintain actuarial models and tools.
  • Strong desire to learn and continually advance breadth and depth of expertise in actuarial science and risk management.
