Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Education Support Assistant to join our team at Alfriston School. As a School Assistant - Special Needs Support, you will work closely with teachers and other support staff to provide individualized assistance to pupils with special educational needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Provide physical support and assistance to pupils with physical disabilities, including personal care
  2. Assist pupils with visual impairments in navigating the school site
  3. Support learning activities and contribute to the development of individualized education plans
  4. Build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and parents
  5. Communicate effectively with teachers and other support staff to ensure a cohesive approach to pupil support
  6. Contribute to a safe and inclusive learning environment
  7. Participate in training and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge

Requirements:

  • Experience working with children with special educational needs
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced environment
  • Passion for providing high-quality support to pupils with special needs

Working Hours: 37 hours per week, Monday to Thursday, 8:00am to 4:00pm (with a 30-minute unpaid lunch break)

Salary: £23,297 per annum (pro rata), actual salary £17,472
