Research Scientist in Human-Robot Collaboration

We are seeking a highly skilled postdoctoral researcher to investigate human-robot collaboration in unstructured environments. The successful candidate will design and develop artificial feedback systems to enhance human situational awareness and motor control. This will involve working with physical robot platforms, developing multi-sensory feedback interfaces, and conducting user studies.

The role requires a strong background in robotics, computer vision, and human-robot interaction. The successful candidate will be expected to publish research outcomes in top-tier conferences and journals and contribute to the development of research proposals and projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop artificial feedback systems for human-robot collaboration.
  • Develop multi-sensory feedback interfaces for robot environment perception.
  • Conduct user studies to evaluate the effectiveness of artificial feedback systems.
  • Work with physical robot platforms to integrate and test feedback systems.
  • Publish research outcomes in top-tier conferences and journals.

Other Duties:

  • Contribute to the development of research proposals and projects.
  • Supervise undergraduate and postgraduate research students.
  • Participate in lab research meetings and internal seminars.
  • Undertake any necessary training and development.

This is a 2-year fixed-term appointment with potential extension. The successful applicant will join our team at The University of Manchester's RAICo One Facility in West Cumbria, working closely with robotics, control, and AI experts from the University, Sellafield Ltd, and the UK Atomic Energy Authority.
