As a key member of our team, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our community midwifery services. We are seeking a talented and experienced midwife to join us as a Band 7 Community Midwife Team Leader.

This is an exciting opportunity to embark on a new challenge and make a real difference in the lives of women and families in our community. Working closely with our community matron and team, you will be responsible for leading and managing a team of midwives, maternity support workers, and community administrators to provide high-quality, woman-centred care.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing leadership and management to the team, ensuring the delivery of high-quality services and the maintenance of excellent patient care.
  • Assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating midwifery care, using a holistic and innovative approach to practice.
  • Developing and implementing policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with trust and professional midwifery standards.
  • Supporting, supervising, and teaching less junior staff, students, and support workers on clinical and non-clinical procedures and practices.
  • Acting as a role model and mentor, promoting a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Significant experience as a midwife, preferably at a Band 6 level, with a strong understanding of community midwifery services.
  • Excellent leadership and management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a team.
  • Sound knowledge of trust guidelines, particularly in relation to antenatal, postnatal, and home births.
  • Experience of coordinating a maternity ward or clinical community area.
  • Ability to safely use medical devices and other equipment required for midwifery practice.
