An Exciting Opportunity for a SEMH Teaching Assistant in Newcastle

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate individual to join our team as a SEMH Teaching Assistant in a welcoming primary school in Newcastle. This is a fantastic opportunity to support students with social, emotional, and mental health needs in a nurturing environment.

Job Title: Primary School SEMH Support Worker
Location: Newcastle
Salary: £87 - £108 per day
Contract: Daily Supply, Long Term

Job Summary:

As a Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in helping students develop the social and emotional skills they need to succeed. Your support will create a positive learning environment where every child feels safe and valued.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide individual and group support to students with SEMH needs.
  • Assist teachers in delivering engaging lessons and learning activities.
  • Foster positive relationships with students, helping them feel understood and supported.
  • Help manage classroom behaviour and uphold school policies.
  • Communicate effectively with teachers, parents, and other staff about student progress.
  • Contribute to creating a safe and inclusive classroom atmosphere.
  • Monitor and record student attendance and performance.

Requirements:

  • Experience working with children, particularly those with SEMH needs, is desirable.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A genuine passion for supporting children's education and well-being.
  • Ability to adapt to the individual needs of students.
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply for one.
