Job Description:

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join our team at Starfyn Education. As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students with complex and severe learning difficulties in a purpose-built SEN school.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide individualized support to students with complex needs, promoting their learning and development.
  • Assist students with their understanding and participation in lessons, ensuring they reach their full potential.
  • Support the school's students before, during, and after lessons, creating a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Actively participate in team meetings, contributing to the development of strategies to support students with complex needs.
  • Follow all regulations pertaining to safeguarding, ensuring the well-being and safety of students.
  • Support individual students' needs, including assisting with medical and personal care tasks, as required.
  • Work on a 1:1 or group basis to support learning, inspiring and engaging with children with a wide range of additional learning needs.
  • Assist with personal care needs of pupils, including feeding, changing, and manual handling, with training provided by the school.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working in a school, college, or provision, or experience working with children with complex needs.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a genuine caring attitude.
  • Flexibility with working patterns, including term-time only.
  • Good general education levels in English and Maths.
  • Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualifications or above preferred, but not necessary.
