Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Abdominal Ultrasound Screening Specialist to join our team at Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our screening programme, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality care to patients.

About the Role

The successful candidate will work as an assistant practitioner, carrying out abdominal ultrasound scans within standard operating procedures. They will have a thorough understanding of the health effects of aneurysms and be able to travel independently across Gloucestershire and Swindon to fulfil the requirements of the post.

Main Responsibilities
  • Conduct abdominal ultrasound scans to a high standard, following national standard operating procedures.
  • Work independently, making judgements according to experience and training, with advice and support available for more complex situations.
  • Establish effective working relationships with patients, family members/carers, healthcare professionals, and other stakeholders.
  • Communicate effectively, maintaining professional standards of care and promoting excellent patient experience.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A good understanding of IT requirements and skills, including proficiency in using ultrasound machines.
  • A clean full driving licence, with ability to travel independently across Gloucestershire and Swindon.
  • Excellent time management, able to work under pressure and on own initiative.
  • Able to handle sensitive/confidential information, maintaining confidentiality at all times.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of Health Screening and its importance, with evidence of ongoing professional development through maintenance of a professional portfolio and registration revalidation.
