About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Human Factors Consultant to join our team at the National Nuclear Laboratory. As a Senior Human Factors Consultant, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety and effectiveness of our projects.

Main Responsibilities

  • Apply Human Factors methods in a wide variety of circumstances, staying up-to-date with developments in methodology and approach.
  • Lead technical delivery of projects to meet customer requirements, utilizing your expertise in Human Factors.
  • Provide support to multi-disciplinary teams addressing safety challenges, leveraging your experience in safety critical environments.
  • Support and develop junior colleagues, fostering a culture of knowledge sharing and growth.
  • Manage and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders, ensuring effective communication and collaboration.
  • Contribute to bids for new work, utilizing your expertise in Human Factors to drive business growth.
  • Develop new capabilities for the Human Factors team, driving innovation and excellence in our work.
  • Mentor and supervise junior colleagues, helping them to grow and develop in their careers.
  • Design and deliver specialist Human Factors training within the team and across the organization.

Requirements

  • Extensive experience in integrating and applying Human Factors methods, preferably in a safety critical environment.
  • Degree qualified or equivalent level of demonstrable technical capability.
  • Excellent level of knowledge in the field of Human Factors.
  • Proven ability to act independently, under own initiative, while supervising other members of the team.
  • Strong communication skills, including remote working.
  • Excellent teamworking skills, with ability to inspire the work of a team.
  • Ability to obtain SC level security clearance.

Desirable Criteria

  • Detailed knowledge of advanced Human Factors techniques.
  • Experience in mentoring and developing technical skills.
  • Chartered Membership of a professional institution.
  • Excellent networking skills, maintaining network across the Human Factors field nationally.
  • Membership of relevant national industry group(s).
