Senior or Principal Flood Risk Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior or Principal Flood Risk Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in helping our clients to successfully deliver Flood Risk Assessments for development projects in accordance with the NPPF, including sustainable drainage strategies for planning and due diligence flood risk advice to landowners.

The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of experience in Flood Risk Engineering and will be able to demonstrate a strong understanding of the planning system, including policy and guidance such as the NPPF and SuDS Manual. You will be responsible for formulating conceptual surface water drainage strategies incorporating SuDS and associated hydraulic calculations, attending meetings with clients, design teams, local authorities and statutory and non-statutory consultees, and producing and reviewing a wide range of FRAs and drainage strategies using MicroDrainage/InfoDrainage.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Formulate conceptual surface water drainage strategies incorporating SuDS and associated hydraulic calculations
  • Attend meetings with clients, design teams, local authorities and statutory and non-statutory consultees
  • Produce and review a wide range of FRAs and drainage strategies using MicroDrainage/InfoDrainage
  • Recognise and communicate flooding and drainage related constraints and opportunities at development sites
  • Good knowledge of the planning system, in particular policy and guidance including the NPPF and SuDS Manual
  • Good financial control, project management and communication skills in a client facing role
