About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Retail Shop Manager to lead our high-performing charity shop in the North West.

As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the shop, including managing a team of staff and volunteers, achieving sales and profit targets, and ensuring full compliance with charity policies and legislative requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Team Leadership: Lead, recruit, and manage a motivated team to ensure smooth shop operations and maximum profitability.
  • Performance Improvement: Achieve sales and profit targets by optimising merchandising, space allocation, and local market insights.
  • Compliance and Risk Management: Ensure full compliance with all charity policies, procedures, and legislative requirements.
  • Inventory Management: Maximise income by promoting Gift Aid and ensuring stock is appropriately priced, rotated, and displayed.
  • Performance Analysis: Monitor shop performance using EPOS data, retail trends, and competition analysis to stay ahead in the market.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with the Area Manager to improve shop performance and maintain high standards of cleanliness and customer service.
  • Financial Management: Manage shop budgets and control operational costs in line with company guidelines.
  • Customer Service: Deliver exceptional customer service by training and leading your team to provide an outstanding shopping experience.
  • Health and Safety: Ensure health and safety compliance, safeguarding all staff, volunteers, and customers.

Requirements:

  • Proven Experience: Strong background in retail/charity management with experience in leading successful teams.
  • Leadership: Ability to inspire, motivate, and manage a diverse team to achieve outstanding results.
  • Customer Service Excellence: A natural ability to deliver exceptional customer experiences while ensuring the team is aligned with these values.
  • Financial Acumen: Experience in cash handling, budget management, and using management information systems such as EPOS.
  • Gift Aid Knowledge: Familiarity with Gift Aid processes and maximising its income potential in retail settings.
  • Merchandising & Sales: A creative approach to merchandising with a keen eye for detail to drive sales and profitability.
  • IT Skills: Comfortable using IT systems to analyse performance and manage stock.

  • Travel: Confident with a full, clean driving license and the ability to travel around the North West.
