About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Risk Management Specialist to join our team, responsible for materially contributing to the achievement of our short to medium-term financial plans through translating specialist underwriting knowledge into an implementable set of rules.

This position involves working closely with the Product Performance Analysts to improve their knowledge and skills, refine our underwriting appetite, and ensure superior risk selection and proactive business mix management.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Contribute to the management of portfolio performance by analyzing results, executing selection and pricing strategies, and providing recommendations for continuous performance improvement.
  2. Work alongside the Product Performance Analysts, providing direction and support to enhance their knowledge and skills.
  3. Provide input to constantly refine our underwriting appetite, ensuring we take advantage of market opportunities and outperform peers through superior risk selection and proactive business mix management.
  4. Act as a point of technical referral from other team members, brokers, and internal functions, utilizing extensive risk, product, and pricing knowledge to inform appropriate decisions.
  5. Offer feedback to Product Managers & Heads of Class and Pricing Team members on the effectiveness of our risk pricing models to drive enhanced sophistication and accuracy.
Required Qualifications and Skills:
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with a talented team towards challenging financial targets.
  • Extensive technical knowledge of products, including features, drivers of product performance, market dynamics, and customer requirements.
  • Analytical mindset with comprehensive Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Able to produce coherent and comprehensive Microsoft PowerPoint presentations for senior stakeholders.
  • Strong commercial awareness, with the ability to identify opportunities and enhance financial performance.
  • Detailed understanding of pricing practices and methodologies, with experience in enhancing pricing capability.
  • Extensive knowledge of sophisticated underwriting control environments and legal, regulatory, and compliance provisions applicable to the UK motor insurance market.
