Job Summary

Kent County Council is seeking a Committee Support Specialist to join its Democratic Services team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the effective functioning of local government in Kent.

The successful candidate will possess a sound understanding of local government, with confidence and political sensitivity when dealing with elected members and senior officers. Experience in committee clerking and office administration is essential, as well as excellent written English skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office and Microsoft Teams.

Responsibilities will include facilitating public committee meetings, preparing agendas and reports, and maintaining the committees' work programme. You will also provide advice to officers and members, ensuring that all statutory and constitutional requirements are met.

The ideal candidate will have excellent organisational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work under pressure. KCC offers a competitive salary of £35,000 - £45,000 per annum, depending on experience, as well as an attractive benefits package and flexible working arrangements.

The team operates a hybrid model, with some days spent in the office and others working from home. Occasional travel to external meetings may be required.
