About the Role
The Physics Teaching Laboratories at Imperial College London are seeking an experienced laboratory technician to join a dynamic team of technical staff responsible for the smooth operation of our busy teaching environment.
Job Description:
We are looking for a skilled laboratory technician with expertise in setting up, calibrating, and repairing experimental equipment. You will be responsible for maintaining and supplying laboratory equipment and stock within the laboratories, as well as providing technical support to demonstrators, students, and other staff members.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and upgrade experimental equipment
- Provide technical assistance to demonstrations, students, and staff members
- Select new equipment from suppliers and source parts for bespoke equipment assembly
- Support undergraduate projects by advising on equipment and experimental setup
Requirements
- BTEC Higher National Certificate or equivalent qualification
- Strong knowledge of computer systems, software, hardware, and programming
- High attention to detail and practical skills in using prototyping equipment
- Effective communication and organizational skills
