We are looking for a talented Data Engineer to help drive the success of Our Future Health Limited. The successful candidate will have a deep understanding of NHS data and data solutions, and will be responsible for designing and building data pipelines from data providers to our primary data store and trusted research environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Data Pipeline Design and Development: Support the design and building of data pipelines using languages such as Python, to ensure the efficient and effective processing of large datasets.
  • Data Transformation and Quality Control: Produce logic for data transformation steps as code, to meet the requirements for our end users and build well-curated, accessible, and quality-controlled data for analysis.
  • Staying Up-to-Date with Best Practices: Keep abreast of best practice in data engineering across industry, research, and Government, and facilitate the adoption of standards.
  • Collaboration with Researchers: Work with researchers to understand data requirements and deliver the data needed for their projects.
  • Communication and Stakeholder Management: Communicate effectively with and between technical and non-technical stakeholders, and facilitate discussions within a multidisciplinary team.

Requirements:

  • Information Governance and Data Security: Understanding and working knowledge of information governance and data security approaches appropriate for sensitive health data.
  • NHS Data Knowledge: Detailed knowledge and understanding of NHS data, such as hospital administrative data, disease registries, or primary care data, and how they can be used to support research.
  • Health Record Coding Systems: Knowledge of health record coding systems and data standards, with experience with OMOP and FHIR being desirable.
  • Data Structures and Standards: Familiarity with a range of data structures and standards, with experience with OMOP and FHIR being desirable.
  • Complex Data Schemas: Experience with the design and deployment of complex data schemas.
  • Pipeline Development: Experience building and maintaining robust, scalable, and efficient pipelines capable of processing large amounts of data from one or multiple systems.
