Ecology and Biodiversity Manager Job Description

As an Ecology and Biodiversity Manager at Bouygues UK, you will play a pivotal role in advising and supporting our operational teams on all aspects of ecological management and compliance with legal obligations and the project's Development Consent Order.

Your Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide advice and site support to operational teams, ensuring ecological requirements are met according to programme, budget, and quality standards.
  • Develop and support the implementation of Ecological Management Plans.
  • Foster strong relationships with clients, regulators, design teams, and project management teams.
  • Maintain the company's environmental management system in line with changing standards and legislation.
  • Conduct habitat suitability assessments and protected species surveys.
  • Provide ecological consultancy to both external and internal clients, including surveys, mitigation, and on-site support.
  • Offer technical support for biodiversity net gain initiatives and foster a culture of continual ecological improvement.

Requirements:

  • Excellent knowledge of ecological management and mitigation.
  • Degree or Masters level education in Ecology or a related subject.
  • Good commercial awareness.
  • Full UK driver's licence and flexibility to travel.
  • Solid grasp of environmental management for construction sites.
  • Proficiency in MS Office - Word, Excel, Outlook.
  • Experience working on large-scale infrastructure construction projects.
  • At least one protected species survey license.
