Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated Health and Safety Manager to join our team at Westfraser Inverness. As a key member of the Pioneer Selection team, you will be responsible for leading the evolution of our Safety Management System, ensuring full compliance with relevant legislation.

About the Role

  • Lead the development and implementation of a proactive health and safety environment across our site.
  • Champion personal health and safety across the workforce through the Safety Star Programme.
  • Provide specialist health and safety knowledge and support to all personnel.
  • Develop and coordinate comprehensive safety training programmes.
  • Work collaboratively with international sites to share best practices and implement aligned safety visions.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Own and lead the Safety Steering Committee, providing clear direction and leadership for safety sub-committees.
  2. Drive continuous improvement in personal and process safety, ensuring highest levels of compliance and safe behaviours.
  3. Audit work areas regularly, engaging directly with employees to understand and mitigate potential risks.
  4. Manage incident/accident investigations, ensuring safety reports are compiled, shared, and used to inform future prevention measures.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in health and safety management, with a deep understanding of safety legislation.
  • Strong leadership skills, with the ability to promote an interdependent and accountable safety culture.
  • Analytical mindset, with the ability to assess safety data and drive continuous improvements.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a passion for engaging and motivating teams.

Location and Salary

This role is based in Inverness, Scotland, offering a competitive salary range of £45,000 - £50,000.
