Job Summary:

Subsea 7 is seeking an experienced Operational Trenching Lead Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will provide trenching expertise and support to projects, tenders, engineering studies, and offshore operations on a global basis.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop the technical trenching strategy with the Engineering leadership, taking into account current and anticipated industry trenching capabilities, as well as predicted trenching conditions at offshore wind farm sites.
  • Provide operational and engineering oversight and support to Subsea 7 FEED, tender, and project activities with respect to trenching and dredging.
  • Ensure compliance with client requirements and propose effective solutions for trenching and dredging activities.
  • Interface with supply chain managers, tendering and project teams, seabed intervention teams, sub-contractors, and clients.
  • Agree and monitor performance targets for third parties and projects.
  • Contribute to meetings, site visits, mobilizations, trials, and offshore works.
  • Effectively communicate trenching and dredging risks to management, tendering, and project teams, and work together to mitigate such risks.
  • Review and distribute trenching and dredging lessons learned, and ensure Subsea 7 guidelines are reviewed and updated regularly.
  • Contribute to commercial and contractual proposals as requested by tendering and project teams.

Requirements:

  • Proven engineering, technical, operational, and commercial knowledge of trenching (and dredging) operations.
  • Extensive experience in an operational trenching role, including offshore and with responsibility for writing procedures and other documentation.
  • Ability to manage change and identify risks.
  • Willingness to travel to Subsea 7 offices to work with project teams, as well as clients and subcontractors as required.
  • Able to occasionally provide support on an on-call basis to support offshore operations.
  • Effective communication skills and a proven ability to interface between project teams, suppliers, supply chain managers, and discipline engineers (especially seabed intervention).
