Cybersecurity Threat Analyst

Are you ready to take on a challenging role in cybersecurity?
As a Security Analyst at NEXT, you will be part of the Security Incident Response Team, responsible for identifying, containing, and eradicating security incidents. You will work closely with IT, security partners, and the wider business to ensure prompt response and resolution.
The successful candidate will learn how to use our SIEM and other security controls to identify potential threats and take appropriate action. You will also be responsible for ensuring that forensic evidence is correctly captured and stored for future reference. Following incidents, you will work with other teams to identify opportunities for improvement and make recommendations for addressing lessons learned.
The role involves participating in a shift rota and requires excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills, as well as a keen interest in information and cyber security. You will be a team player who is hardworking and self-motivated, with excellent attention to detail and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in continuously monitoring NEXT's technical security controls to identify potential threats.
- Learn how to operate and maintain key security controls used by the Security Incident Response Team.
- Understand how to respond to security incidents, ensuring prompt containment and recovery.
- Learn how to carry out forensic investigations following security incidents.
- Learn how to ensure all investigations and incidents are accurately logged and managed in our ITSM tool.
- Participate in lessons learned meetings and make recommendations for improvements to controls or processes.
- Liaise with other IT Teams, business areas, and 3rd Parties to aid in incident investigations and response.
- Develop an awareness of new and emerging threats and understand their relevance to the NEXT environment.
- Help in creating and maintaining operational procedures and technical documentation.
- Help to manage and maintain metrics and reporting to ensure security threats and trends impacting our business are understood.
