About the Job:


aap3 Recruitment is seeking an experienced Senior DWDM Engineer to join our team in Milton Keynes or Manchester.


The successful candidate will have extensive knowledge of Transmission DWDM Technologies, including RLS, ROADM, and transponders with various vendors, such as Ciena.


You will be responsible for designing and developing scalable and secure solutions at pace, utilising your skills, knowledge, and expertise to solve complex technical problems and lead teams and projects.


Key Responsibilities:



  • Design and development of solutions to meet internal and external requirements
  • Solving complex technical problems
  • Subject matter expert within DWDM
  • Leading teams and projects

Required Skills:



  • In-depth knowledge of Transmission DWDM Technologies, e.g. RLS, ROADM, and transponder with various vendors including Ciena
  • Experience of restful APIs and JSON (preferable)
  • Knowledge of routing protocols and data networks (preferable)
  • Understanding of layer 2 and 3 technologies, with focus on Ethernet, MPLS, and TCP/IP (preferable)
  • Experience in the use of Transmission management platforms and inventory systems
  • Experience in mixed vendor environments, product life cycle, and technology migrations
  • Experience in delivering Transmission networks in line with design documents

Additional Skills:



  • Experience of feature, compliance, and regression testing
  • Programming skills, especially Python etc.
  • Software tools such as Splunk, Jira, and Ansible etc.
  • Network monitoring and security

Salary and Benefits:



  • Salary: £80,000 per annum
  • Discretionary bonus up to 20%

Location: Hybrid working, based out of either Milton Keynes or Manchester sites.
