About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Custody Operations Specialist to join our team at Standard Bank Group. As a key member of our Operations team, you will play a critical role in providing deep specialist knowledge to support the Custody Operations function.

Key Responsibilities
  • Complex Issue Resolution Management: You will be responsible for managing complex issues and resolving them in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Client Escalation Management: You will manage day-to-day client escalations and provide expert advice to ensure a positive client experience.
  • SME Custody Operations Advice: You will provide subject matter expertise to support ICS projects and the Operations & Business Leadership.
  • Team Development and Support: You will support and develop the Custody Operations team to maximize overall efficiency and team performance.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Banking Operations Experience: You will have a minimum of [X] years of experience in banking operations.
  • Point Person for Multiple Product Processes: You will be the point person for multiple product processes and have a strong understanding of the associated risks and challenges.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Act as a Risk Champion: You will ensure the adoption of risk items into the team's processes and procedures.
  • Subject Matter Expert: You will be the subject matter expert for Custody Operations and provide advice to support ICS projects and the Operations & Business Leadership.
  • Contribute to Team Strategy: You will contribute to the Custody Operations team strategy to ensure objectives are aligned with the Operations function and distribution channels.
  • Design and Implement Service Standards: You will design and implement appropriate service standards to ensure exceptional levels of service to clients through all servicing channels.
  • Drive Vision to Completion: You will drive the vision through to completion, ensuring the team and wider stakeholder networks buy into the vision.
Technical Competencies
  • Active Listening: You will possess excellent active listening skills to ensure effective communication with clients and stakeholders.
  • Data Management: You will have strong data management skills, including trading, transacting, and exception handling.
  • Deal or Trade Life Cycles: You will have a strong understanding of deal or trade life cycles and be able to manage them effectively.
  • Exception Handling: You will be able to handle exceptions in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Product and Services Knowledge: You will have a strong understanding of product and services knowledge to provide expert advice to clients.
  • Query Resolution: You will be able to resolve queries in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Settlement Process: You will have a strong understanding of the settlement process and be able to manage it effectively.
  • Settlement Systems: You will have a strong understanding of settlement systems and be able to manage them effectively.
