Research Associate Practitioner

About the Role
We are seeking a highly motivated and organized Research Associate Practitioner to join our Research and Innovation department's Research Laboratory at Portsmouth Hospitals University NHS Trust. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in supporting principal investigators undertaking research across a diverse range of clinical areas.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the pre-analytical processing, storage, shipment, recording, and tracking of biological samples in accordance with Good Clinical Practice (GCP) guidelines.
- Work primarily at Queen Alexandra Hospital, with occasional support required at the John Pounds Centre Research Hub in Southsea and potentially the Isle of Wight.
- Collaborate with the Research Laboratory team to ensure the smooth operation of laboratory procedures and maintain high standards of accuracy and hand-to-eye coordination.
- Develop and maintain a strong understanding of laboratory-specific equipment and methods, as well as Health and Safety legislation and procedures.
Requirements
- Minimum of three GCSEs including English Language, Mathematics, and a Science subject.
- A-level or equivalent qualification in a Biological Science subject.
- Experience with electronic data handling and good keyboard skills.
- Ability to work in a methodical and organized manner, with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
