Project Controls Engineer

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Project Controls Engineer to join our team at Morson Talent. In this role, you will play a vital part in supporting multiple nuclear industry projects, from feasibility through to delivery, across sectors including Decommissioning, Defence, and Nuclear New Build.

As a Project Controls Engineer, you will be responsible for managing project controls across cost, scheduling, risk, and change control. Your primary responsibilities will include leading project controls processes, developing and maintaining project schedules, and providing earned value and variance analysis for accurate reporting.

This is an ideal opportunity for a proactive professional with a strong background in project controls, planning, P6, cost, reporting, and Nuclear / NDA experience, as well as 10+ years of experience in regulated, technical industries.

The client is part of the UK's Nuclear Decommissioning Authority, a public body responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient clean-up of the UK's nuclear legacy. They provide transport services outside of the nuclear sector, operating a number of intermodal rail services in consumer goods and general freight markets.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Lead project controls processes, including cost estimating, schedule management, and risk analysis, to ensure successful project delivery.
  2. Develop, maintain, and update project schedules (using Primavera P6) and provide earned value and variance analysis for accurate reporting.
  3. Manage and communicate project cost controls, including budget forecasting, cost tracking, and variance explanations.
  4. Implement risk management practices, maintaining a comprehensive risk register, performing risk analysis, and integrating mitigation strategies.
  5. Facilitate effective change control processes, evaluating project impacts and implementing changes with the project team.
  6. Provide clear and actionable reporting to stakeholders and lead project progress discussions.
Requirements:

  1. 10+ years of experience in project controls within regulated, technical industries.
  2. Strong analytical and organizational skills, with experience in budget and data analysis.
