The role of the Prosthetic and Orthotic Care Specialist is to provide a high standard of clinical orthotic care to all patients and assist in the day-to-day running of the service. Key responsibilities include:

  • Supporting a caseload of clients with a wide range of complex conditions and recommending the best course of intervention.
  • Effectively communicating with informed patient consent, discussing the reasons for the prescription.
  • Providing counselling, advice, and support as necessary to maximise rehabilitation potential and to ensure understanding of condition.
  • Assessing, measuring, casting, fitting, supplying, reviewing, and adjusting orthoses as required.
  • Maintaining appropriate clinical notes and records.
  • Providing training in the field of Orthotics at all levels.

The ideal candidate will be able to prioritise and manage workload, work autonomously, and have excellent communication and interpersonal skills. A full UK driving licence is also required.
