At Apple Orchard, we are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Residential Childcare Support Worker to join our team. This role is ideal for individuals who are passionate about making a positive impact on the lives of young people.



The successful candidate will have experience working with teenage boys and be willing to further develop their skills. A driving license and access to a vehicle are essential due to the rural location of our services.



About the Role

This is a casual position that requires flexibility with working hours, including days, evenings, and weekends. The role involves providing a high level of nurturing care to young people, ensuring their basic needs are met, and stimulating their learning and integration within the home.



Responsibilities


  2. To create a motivating environment that takes into account individual developmental needs and enables young people to reach their full potential.
  3. To plan and prepare activities that meet the young people's needs and stimulate their learning and integration within the home.
  4. To stay informed of legislation, guidelines, and policies to ensure compliance with the Children's Act, Children's homes regulations, and the national minimum standards.
  5. To observe and assess young people's progress, keeping accurate records of their achievements, behavior, and important events in their lives.
  6. To work collaboratively with local authorities and placing authorities to ensure the care provided is outstanding.
  7. To establish and maintain positive relationships with parents/carers, supporting young people's learning and development.
  8. To be flexible within working practices, undertaking domestic tasks as needed, including meal preparation, cleaning, shopping, etc.
  9. To work alongside the Manager and staff team to ensure the philosophy behind the home is fulfilled.
  10. To maintain clear and legible records regarding the young people, ensuring entries are non-stigmatising and distinguished between fact, opinion, and third-party information.


Essential Skills and Qualifications


  • A relevant Diploma or NVQ Level in Residential Childcare or Health & Social Care.
  • Experience working with teenage boys or challenging behavior.
  • A driving license and access to a vehicle.
  • Ability to engage and listen to young people, guiding them towards independence and adulthood.
  • Flexibility with working hours, including shift work.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to challenge unacceptable behavior and provide firm boundaries.
  • Flexibility to undertake domestic tasks as needed.
  • Collaborative approach to working with colleagues and stakeholders.


Estimated Salary: £23,000 - £28,000 per annum
