As a Band 6 Sister/Charge Nurse, you will be responsible for supporting the Senior Sister and developing our level 1 Neonatal Unit and Transitional Care services.
Main Responsibilities- Exercising leadership within the unit in the absence of the Senior Sister/Charge Nurse, attending meetings as delegated.
- Regularly taking charge of the Neonatal Unit and Transitional Care, with input into the management of staff within the division.
- Managing the care of individual or groups of patients.
- Creating a culture of continuous quality improvement through audit, learning from complaints, and patient/family feedback.
- Promoting a friendly and supportive environment for parents and relatives, enabling them to learn to care for their babies in preparation for discharge.
- Advocating for the babies and promoting effective communication with the multi-disciplinary team, including parents.
- Initiating and implementing nursing developments across the Neonatal Unit and Transitional Care.
- Participating in ward meetings and promoting staff teaching and development.
- NMC Registered Nurse or Midwife with Neonatal QIS.
- Minimum 1 year post QIS experience.
- Good interpersonal skills, enabling effective working relationships with staff.
