We are seeking an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant or support worker to join our team at a specialist school in York.



Job Description

The school provides education and care for children aged 11-16 years with a wide range of learning difficulties, including Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD) to Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD), and Autistic Spectrum Condition (ASC).


In addition to learning needs, some pupils have sensory needs, including visual impairments, hearing impairments, and multi-sensory impairments. Some pupils also have complex medical needs.


You will work closely with the class teachers to provide support to students on a one-to-one basis or within small groups, promoting their social, emotional, and academic development.



Responsibilities

  • Support students with their learning, providing individualized attention and adapting your approach as needed.
  • Assist with personal care when required.
  • Maintain a safe and inclusive learning environment.
  • Collaborate with teaching staff to develop and implement effective educational plans.
  • Communicate effectively with parents, caregivers, and other professionals to ensure consistency in student care.


Requirements

To be considered for this role, you must:



  • Hold a Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent.
  • Possess GCSE Maths and English qualifications.
  • Be computer literate.
  • Hold an Enhanced Child Barred List DBS certificate registered with the online update service or be willing to process a new application.
  • Provide two professional child-related references covering at least the last two years.
