About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team at Safran Seats. As a key member of our design team, you will be responsible for leading the design and development of innovative mechanical solutions for our aircraft seating products.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Design Leadership: Provide technical leadership and guidance to design engineers, ensuring that designs meet program requirements, cost targets, and quality standards.
  2. Design Development: Develop and maintain detailed designs, including 2D and 3D models, using CATIA V5 and other relevant software.
  3. Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including engineering, manufacturing, and quality, to ensure seamless design-to-manufacturing handovers.
  4. Problem-Solving and Innovation: Identify and implement opportunities for design improvements, cost reductions, and process enhancements.
  5. Design Reviews and Validation: Participate in design reviews and validation activities to ensure designs meet program requirements and quality standards.
  6. Material Selection and Process Development: Select and apply materials and processes appropriate to each design element, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
  7. Design Integration and Verification: Ensure the successful integration of each design element within the product as a whole, and verify designs against program requirements.
  8. Engineering Package Development: Develop and maintain accurate and complete engineering packages, including design documentation, specifications, and test plans.
  9. Validation and Testing: Participate in the validation of products, using methods such as prototyping, testing, and Design for Manufacturability and Assembly (DFMEA).
  10. Best Practice Development and Implementation: Contribute to the development and implementation of best practices, guidelines, and standards for design engineering.
Requirements
  1. Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  2. Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience in mechanical design, preferably in the aerospace or automotive industry.
  3. Skills: Excellent problem-solving skills, experience with CAD software (CATIA V5 preferred), and strong communication and collaboration skills.
  4. Personal Qualities: Strong attention to detail, ability to work in a fast-paced environment, and commitment to delivering high-quality results.
