We are seeking a highly skilled Project Engineer to join our team in Telford. The successful candidate will have experience in assembly automation, advanced machining, or tooling with an automotive company.

Position Overview:

As a Project Engineer, you will be responsible for overseeing projects and supporting the daily operations of the manufacturing plant. You will plan and schedule project execution, maximise internal resources, and effectively manage external vendors.

This role will report to the Engineering Manager. The position requires strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to drive continuous improvement and optimise workflows to meet project deadlines and objectives.

As a team player, you will foster a positive workplace culture, develop and execute KPIs, maintain a continuous improvement mindset, and implement industry 4.0 initiatives.

Responsibilities:
  1. Develop detailed project plans, schedules, and budgets, including task dependencies, resource allocation, and critical path analysis, to ensure timely and cost-effective project completion.
  2. Coordinate daily build activities with the Operations Lead, including contractors and Management.
  3. Follow up jobs through build, qualification, integration, runoff, and installation.
  4. Process engineering changes and address material issues.
  5. Support coordination and implementation of engineering changes.
  6. Support and work with project managers on job and manpower planning.
  7. Track and communicate on-site technical issues with engineering and project management to resolve and close open issues.
  8. Report percentage complete status on a daily basis per project.
  9. Identify upcoming roadblocks and provide forward planning to meet overall schedule requirements.
  10. Adhere to the published statement of work and notify the project manager or engineering manager about any opportunities for improvements and/or risks identified.
  11. Read and interpret technical drawings, including CAD, and identify any inconsistencies.
  12. Develop and lead strong KPIs with performance measurables, regularly reviewed with the team.
  13. Support the development and preparation of commercial and technical offers that comply with the customer's request.
About You:
  1. Flexibility to travel within Europe and beyond
  2. Effective communicator both written and verbal in English
  3. Eligibility to work in the UK
  4. Mechanical Engineering Degree/Diploma/Certificate of Qualification and/or applicable work experience
  5. Proficiency using Microsoft Word, Excel, Project, AutoCAD, and Visual Manufacturing System
  6. Previous experience of Assembly Automation/Advanced Machining/Tooling with an automotive company
  7. Previous experience with the manufacture of assembly cells (Desirable)
  8. Project management qualification (Desirable)
  9. 2 years relevant work experience in automotive/manufacturing (Desirable)
  10. Implementation of industry 4.0 initiatives (Desirable)
