Job Overview:

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced professional to lead our inclusive education initiatives. As a Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator (SENCO), you will be responsible for overseeing the provision of support services for children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) in our primary school setting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversight of daily operations related to SEND policies and procedures
  • Coordination of provision for pupils with SEND through collaborative work with teachers, teaching assistants, and external professionals
  • Liaison with parents and guardians of pupils with SEND, ensuring their involvement in decisions about their child's education
  • Leadership and management of teams involved in planning and delivering high-quality, inclusive teaching practices
  • Maintenance of accurate records of pupils' progress and needs, informing effective strategies and interventions
  • Advocacy for the needs of SEND pupils, ensuring equitable and impactful learning experiences
  • Regular reviews and assessments to evaluate the efficacy of SEND provision
  • Organization and oversight of multidisciplinary meetings, including annual reviews, for pupils' Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs)
  • Development and delivery of continuous professional development (CPD) for staff on SEND-related issues
  • Effective management of SEND resources within budgetary constraints
  • Staying up-to-date with current legislation, policies, and best practices in SEND provision, ensuring compliance within the school setting

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Proven experience working as a SENCO or in a similar capacity within a primary school setting
  • Thorough understanding of the SEND Code of Practice and experience with EHCP processes
  • Hands-on, empathetic approach to working with children and a commitment to inclusive education
  • Able to build positive relationships with pupils, staff, parents, and external agencies

Compensation: £45,000 - £55,000 per annum, depending on experience.
