Job Description

Purpose of the Role

To design, develop, and improve software solutions that provide business capabilities for our customers and colleagues. The ideal candidate will utilize various engineering methodologies to create scalable, maintainable, and optimized software.

Key Accountabilities

  • Develop and deliver high-quality software solutions using industry-aligned programming languages, frameworks, and tools.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product managers, designers, and engineers, to define software requirements and ensure seamless integration with business objectives.
  • Participate in code reviews, promote a culture of code quality, and contribute to the organization's technology communities to foster technical excellence and growth.
  • Stay informed of industry technology trends and innovations, and contribute to the development of secure coding practices to mitigate vulnerabilities and protect sensitive data.
  • Implement effective unit testing practices to ensure proper code design, readability, and reliability.

Assistant Vice President Expectations

  • Consult on complex issues, providing advice to People Leaders to support the resolution of escalated issues.
  • Identify ways to mitigate risk and develop new policies/procedures in support of the control and governance agenda.
  • Take ownership for managing risk and strengthening controls in relation to the work done.
  • Collaborate with other areas of work to keep up to speed with business activity and the business strategy.
  • Engage in complex analysis of data from multiple sources, solve problems creatively and effectively, and communicate complex information.
  • Influence or convince stakeholders to achieve outcomes.

Requirements

  • Experience in AB initio development and standard techniques on UNIX and Hadoop, Linux.
  • Knowledge of Data Structure and Algorithms, with experience in implementing medium to big-scale data solutions.
  • SQL skills in Hive, Impala, and Teradata.
  • Additional relevant technical skills, such as experience on AWS or other cloud platforms, and scripting languages like Python, Shell scripting.
  • Overall job scheduling knowledge on TWS.

This role will be based in our Northampton office.
