CEO Job Description

As the Chief Executive Officer of Action Tutoring, you will be responsible for driving the growth, development, and performance of the charity. Your role will involve shaping and delivering an impactful and sustainable strategy in line with our mission and aims.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement short-term and long-term strategic plans and vision for the charity.
  • Lead the team and foster a positive working culture that aligns with our values.
  • Ensure operational excellence across the organisation, including workforce planning and financial management.
  • Commit to improving diversity, equity, and inclusion across the organisation.
  • Represent Action Tutoring externally to stakeholders, including school leaders, policymakers, and funders.
  • Contribute to government policies and help establish tutoring as an essential part of school education.
Requirements
  • Strong communication and advocacy skills, with experience representing organisations externally.
  • Commercial mindset, with proven success in fundraising and financial management.
  • Experience in an organisation with strong operational service delivery and an understanding of quality, efficiency, and impact.
  • Ability to foster a positive working culture and align with our values.
  • Strong financial management skills, managing budgets and ensuring long-term financial sustainability.
  • Knowledge of governance structures and experience working closely with a board of trustees.
  • Comfortable with data and committed to driving impact across the organisation.
