The company, a pioneer in machining excellence, has undergone a period of sustained growth to ensure its continued success in producing high-value, complex components for safety-critical industries.

The role of the Senior CNC Programmer is to oversee the efficient operation of the CNC machine shop, maximizing production levels across all machinery, while managing a team of multi-skilled CNC machinists on a day-to-day basis.

Responsibilities include:

  • Overseeing a busy CNC machine shop, operating multiple axis machining centers to produce precision components.
  • Reviewing works orders to allocate tasks based on machine and manpower availability.
  • Selecting tools, checking material availability, and determining jig and fixture requirements.
  • Inspecting all parts for tolerance and ensuring they meet customer specifications.
  • Ensuring the department achieves set KPIs for efficiency and cost control.
  • Maintaining departmental health and safety standards by conducting risk assessments, safety equipment checks, and PPE inspections.
  • Supporting, mentoring, and managing a team of up to 15 staff members.
  • Driving continuous improvement within the department, identifying program improvements to reduce cycle times, tool, and tip life.

To be successful in this role, the ideal candidate will have:

  • Previous leadership experience within a CNC machine shop, managing production and a team of machinists.
  • A strong bias towards multi-axis milling, with the ability to write programs in FANUC, Siemens, or Mazatrol.
  • Effective staff management skills to ensure the team is motivated and performing well.
  • Demonstrable experience with health and safety, compliance, and best practices.

This Senior CNC Programmer position offers:

  • A highly competitive basic salary of up to £50K, depending on experience.
  • Daytime hours with no shift work and an early finish on Fridays.
  • 33 days of holiday, including bank holidays.
