The Global Head of Regulatory Affairs and Compliance reports to the Head of Research and Development at Gowan, a leading company in the crop protection solutions industry. This senior leadership role is responsible for managing the Global Product Science Leaders, Product Sciences, Human Health Sciences, and Environmental Sciences teams.
The Global Head of Regulatory Affairs and Compliance will be responsible for embracing the increased complexity and interdependence among science disciplines that underlie Gowan's selection, development, and registration of crop protection solutions. This includes maintaining relationships with regulatory authorities in key regions, such as the US EPA, the European Union, and Latin America.
Key Responsibilities- Supervise Global Product Science Leads and Regulatory Managers, leading an informed team that is well connected to business priorities and global regulatory and scientific trends.
- Lead the group in wisely developing and protecting databases to support and defend Gowan's portfolio and pipeline around the world.
- Facilitate and advocate scientific underpinnings and aspects of company plans and product-specific actions, working closely with Gowan R&D personnel and facilities around the world to build deep internal product knowledge.
- Encourage and facilitate communication and alignment with supply, quality, and manufacturing to regularly assess needs and the implications of any changes within product supply strategies.
- Work effectively with Regional Ag Relations Functions to communicate, advocate, and defend the technical attributes of Gowan Company products internally and externally.
- Represent regulatory positions and strategies, directly or through delegates on Asset Teams, working with Business Development to guide new product selection and with Development to synchronize new product advancement.
- Own management responsibilities for the group, including budgeting, people development, and succession planning.
- Educate employees and other stakeholders (customers) at a layman's level to understand the regulatory process and the protection it provides to humans and the environment.
- Minimum of bachelor's degree in science or a related field; masters in a science or regulatory discipline or doctorate preferred.
- Extensive experience (at least 15 years) in regulatory affairs with a strong focus on global strategy and multi-year planning in the pesticide industry.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to lead and influence individuals and cross-functional teams.
- Proactive and adaptable, capable of driving innovation in regulatory practices.
