Job Title: Principal Planning Officer

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal Planning Officer to join our Development Management Service team at Wiltshire Council.

About the Role

As a Principal Planning Officer, you will be responsible for leading and managing strategic and complex planning projects, facilitating community engagement, and collaborating with stakeholders to promote appropriate development. You will work closely with our Planning Manager to handle the most challenging and strategic planning applications, requiring creative and innovative solutions to support sustainable development in line with Wiltshire's place-shaping objectives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage strategic and complex planning projects
  • Facilitate community engagement and collaboration with stakeholders
  • Develop and implement planning policies and strategies
  • Supervise and mentor less experienced officers
  • Review and approve work to ensure alignment with the Council's Local Plan, Scheme of Delegation, and national planning policy
