About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Speech and Language Therapist to join our team at the NHS, working with adults with neurological conditions. As a specialist in this field, you will be responsible for providing high-quality speech and language therapy services to clients with acquired communication and swallowing difficulties.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide specialist speech and language therapy services to clients with neurological conditions, including stroke, TBI, and progressive neurological conditions.
  • Work effectively across the community neuro service, supporting and collaborating with the multidisciplinary team to provide comprehensive care to clients.
  • Manage and prioritize a complex clinical caseload, ensuring timely and effective interventions.
  • Provide advice and support to clients, carers, and volunteers on communication and swallowing difficulties, and assess needs for alternative and augmentative communication aids.
  • Develop and evaluate training for carers and team members on SLT interventions for clients with stroke and other neurological conditions.
  • Contribute to sharing best practice and research updates with the Speech and Language Therapy and Community Neuro Service MDT.
Requirements
  • Recognized Speech and Language Therapy degree
  • Health Professions Council - License to Practice
  • Registered Member of the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists
  • Membership of relevant Special Interest Groups / Clinical Excellence Networks
  • Experience of use and interpretation of videofluoroscopy swallow assessment
  • Demonstrates good analytical and reflection skills
  • Good presentation skills, both written and verbal, including the ability to write clear and concise reports
  • Demonstrates Knowledge in QI
Experience
  • Experience of working successfully within a multidisciplinary team in the NHS setting
  • Experience of teaching / education (planning, delivering and evaluating training to others)
  • Post-registration experience of working with adults with acquired communication and swallowing difficulties
  • Experience of working in a community setting
