Job Title: Transport Manager

Hutchinson Engineering Services Ltd is a dynamic company involved in a diverse range of activities, including haulage of small to large abnormal loads. We are seeking a skilled Transport Manager to join our team in the Transport Department.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage our drivers, matching their vehicles and trailers to incoming work, planning collections and deliveries to optimize efficiency.
  • Provide clear and timely instructions to drivers on collection and delivery details, ensuring they have all necessary information.
  • Monitor driver performance using vehicle telematics and desktop software, ensuring defect recording, driving standards, and compliance with regulations.
  • Address issues with drivers where they fall short, ensuring high standards are maintained.
  • Oversee legal requirements of operating vehicles, coordinating with our workshop, and investigating vehicle-related incidents.
  • Ensure requirements of FORS are met, and their standards are applied, potentially leading or contributing to audits.
  • Train drivers and managers on industry developments and changes, creating and delivering toolbox talks, drafting memos, and scheduling e-learning.
Requirements:
  • Reasonable IT skills, with good knowledge of the road network.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to organize workload and work as part of a team.
  • Minimum of three years prior experience in a transport office.
Desirable Qualifications:
  • Transport Manager's International CPC in Road Haulage.
  • Class 1 (CE) driving license.
  • Experience and knowledge of abnormal loads.
  • Knowledge of AbHaulier, Webfleet, Fleetcheck, and FORS.
