HGV Technician Apprenticeship

Site: Leicester Depot

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled individual to join our team as an HGV Technician Apprentice. As an apprentice, you will have the opportunity to develop your skills and knowledge in the maintenance and repair of waste collection vehicles and equipment.

The role will involve working with our experienced technicians to learn the skills and techniques required to provide maintenance and repairs for our fleet of modern waste collection LGV/HGV vehicles. You will also have the opportunity to work on a variety of makes and models of vehicles, including car-derived vans, artic units, and trailers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Servicing and repair of vehicle chassis and cab to VOSA requirements
  • Maintenance and repair of waste handling equipment, including electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems
  • Vehicle fault diagnosis and rectification
  • Maintaining a high standard of housekeeping, both electronically and paper-based
  • Supporting with H&S issues to maintain OHSAS18001 standard

Requirements:

We are looking for:

  • Effective verbal and written skills, coupled with strong decision-making and problem-solving skills
  • A valid driving license, Cat B
