Lead Onshore Technician for ROV Systems

Position Overview
The primary responsibility of the Lead Onshore Technician is to execute maintenance and refurbishment tasks on ROV systems and associated tooling packages within the workshop environment.
In addition, this role entails providing support and direction to workshop technicians, operations planners, and project teams as necessary.
Duties & Responsibilities
Core Functions
Essential Duties
- Perform maintenance activities, including mobilization, demobilization, periodic checks, and refurbishment of company/client-owned equipment.
- Ensure all tasks are completed in compliance with company operational and maintenance standards, adhering to current legislation.
- Update maintenance records in the equipment management system to reflect all repairs and servicing performed on company-owned assets.
- Coordinate with the onshore supervisor to guarantee availability of equipment, parts, and consumables, facilitating a 'clean to start' approach.
- Identify and report any changes in work scope that may impact the schedule to the onshore supervisor.
- Uphold safety policies and procedures to maintain a secure working environment.
- Engage in daily toolbox discussions with the workshop team.
- Conduct regular safety audits.
- Participate in incident investigations as required.
- Lead the development and review of Risk Assessments and Job Safety Environmental Analysis (JSEA).
- Maintain an updated library of Risk Assessments and JSEA documentation.
- Provide mentorship to workshop staff on QHSE and 5S practices, including JSEA, Risk Assessments, COSHH, and best practices for pressure testing.
- Drive the development and implementation of 5S and QHSE enhancements.
- Act as a substitute for the Onshore Supervisor during their absence.
- Assist with additional responsibilities as needed.
Non-Essential Duties
- Lead daily toolbox talks for the workshop team when necessary.
- Travel to client sites, both domestically and internationally, to provide technical support as required.
- Attend project initiation meetings to offer technical assistance when needed.
- Contribute to engineering and quality improvement initiatives as required.
- Support the development of competency portfolios, guiding technicians in the timely completion and documentation of competencies.
Safety Commitment
Ensure adherence to safety policies and procedures to maintain a safe working environment to the greatest extent possible.
Additional Responsibilities
Perform tasks in alignment with the company's Health, Safety, Environmental, and Quality Systems.
Execute assigned duties with diligence regarding the Integrated Management Systems of the company.
Minimize waste and advocate for environmentally friendly practices, contributing to ongoing environmental improvement efforts.
Supervisory Responsibilities
This position does not entail direct supervisory responsibilities.
Reporting Structure
Reports directly to the Onshore Supervisor.
Qualifications
Required
- City Guilds or SVQ Level 3 in Electronic, Electrical, Mechanical, or Hydraulic Engineering.
- Proven leadership skills with a track record of developing team members.
- Exceptional communication abilities, both verbal and written.
- Demonstrated understanding of 5S and lean methodologies.
- Experience working at heights.
- Certification for operating overhead cranes.
Desired
- HNC/HND in Electronic, Electrical, Mechanical, or Hydraulic Engineering.
- City and Guilds certification in Pressure Testing (SCQF Level 6).
- Familiarity with subsea XT controls and operations.
- Knowledge of manifold, umbilical, and subsea XT installation processes.
- Experience in incident investigation.
- 5S or Lean Champion certification.
- IOSH Managing Safely certification.
- Forklift Truck certification.

Working Conditions
The employee may work indoors or outdoors during the day and occasionally at night. Environmental conditions may vary, including noise from tools and machinery. This role may involve offshore work where vessel movements can be a factor.
PPE must be worn at all times.
Physical Requirements
The employee is required to stand, walk, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. Hearing abilities must encompass all ranges.
This position is classified as Medium work.
