Your Responsibilities
  • Provide comprehensive medical care to patients admitted to the Critical Care Ward and Intensive Care Unit (ICU), encompassing all stages from admission through discharge.
  • Independently manage the medical care of inpatients, including conducting thorough assessments of new admissions, performing daily ward rounds, and responding promptly to medical emergencies.
  • Perform a range of medical procedures as directed by the lead consultant, such as vascular access (e.g., central venous catheter insertion), airway management (e.g., intubation, tracheostomy care), acute pain management, and ventilation management.
  • Actively participate in multidisciplinary team meetings (MDTs) and contribute to audits and training initiatives aimed at continuous improvement and excellence in patient care.
Qualifications and Requirements
  • MBBS medical qualification
  • Full registration with the General Medical Council (GMC) and a current license to practice
  • An additional postgraduate qualification such as FRCA, FICM, MRCEM, or MRCP is highly desirable
  • NHS-trained Intensive Care Medicine or Anaesthesia at ST3 level or equivalent
  • Proven ability to manage complex airways competently and independently
  • Demonstrated experience in teaching and mentoring junior doctors
  • Current Advanced Life Support (ALS) certificate
