As a key member of the radiology team, the successful candidate will be responsible for providing leadership and direction to ensure the delivery of a high-quality MRI imaging service.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as a deputy to the Radiology Service Manager in periods of long-term absence, ensuring continuity of service and maintaining high standards of patient care.
  • Manage and supervise staff and students within the MRI department, fostering a culture of excellence and teamwork.
  • Develop and implement unified staff training and development programs, enhancing the skills and knowledge of radiographers and other staff members.
  • Contribute to the development of the radiology department's strategic work plan, providing leadership and expertise to drive service improvement.
  • Support the Radiology Service Manager in the procurement and installation of new equipment, ensuring that the MRI service remains at the forefront of technology and innovation.
  • Effectively manage the day-to-day running of both MRI scanners, ensuring that demand and capacity are met, and that patient waiting times are minimized.
  • Responsible for the organization, planning, management, and delivery of a comprehensive and effective MRI imaging service, including the management of waiting lists and the provision of weekly reports and KPIs for review.
  • Manage staff within the MRI service, including their personal development, performance development reviews, and discipline, as well as monitoring and recording sickness levels.
  • Provide professional support for staff and contribute to the development of plans to improve patient care, ensuring that all activities are aligned with current professional and legal standards, national and local policies.
  • Responsible for the training and development of radiographers, student radiographers, and radiology clinical imaging assistants, ensuring that they have the skills and knowledge required to deliver high-quality patient care.
