About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join our team at Polaris Education. As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting the educational and personal development of our pupils, who require additional support due to their complex needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide individualized support to pupils, promoting their social, emotional, and academic growth.
  • Work closely with the Classroom Teacher to develop and implement lesson plans, ensuring a tailored approach to meet the needs of each pupil.
  • Monitor and report on pupil progress, identifying areas of strength and weakness, and collaborating with the teaching team to develop strategies for improvement.
  • Supervise pupils during non-classroom activities, including extra-curricular events and school trips, ensuring their safety and well-being.
  • Assist with lesson planning, preparation, and marking, contributing to the overall quality of education provided.
  • Build positive relationships with pupils, fostering a sense of trust and respect, and driving positive learning outcomes.
Requirements
  • A strong basic education, ideally to A-level, with a minimum of GCSE Grade C or equivalent in English Language and Mathematics, and sound IT skills.
  • Previous experience in a similar role, such as a Teaching Assistant, with a proven track record of supporting pupils with SEMH.
  • Experience of behaviour management and techniques, with a commitment to de-escalation and positive reinforcement.
  • Committed to professional development and willing to learn, with a passion for improving pupil outcomes.
  • Must be willing to undergo an Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) check prior to commencing work.
