We are seeking a highly skilled designer with over 8 years of experience in the Baby and Kids sector. You should possess a keen eye for detail and a distinctive creative style, alongside a solid history of successfully developing product lines across various categories. Your ability to influence and your passion for the brand's success will be crucial as you guide your team through the creative process. Strong communication and presentation skills are essential, as you will work closely with key stakeholders to advance the department's creative strategy. A collaborative mindset is necessary for fostering relationships with internal teams to maximize departmental performance. You should be a motivated team player.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

As the Creative Design Lead, your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Leading, motivating, and inspiring a team of designers, ensuring their performance is driven and they receive the necessary support and development.
  • Collaborating with all business departments, providing a confident, solution-oriented approach while consistently representing the brand and its creative vision.
  • Identifying and leading commercial trends and opportunities within the Baby & Kids gifting sector.
  • Managing and prioritizing all design processes as part of the critical path, ensuring adherence to deadlines.
  • Contributing to the design and development of commercially viable product ranges across both soft and hard-line categories.
  • Anticipating and delivering new product opportunities through innovation and creativity in response to evolving business conditions.
  • Maintaining a keen interest in the marketplace, including awareness of competitors.
  • Developing and mentoring new and junior team members to enhance departmental knowledge and brand identity.
  • Supporting the Creative Director with new business initiatives as needed.

Skills and Knowledge

As the Creative Design Lead, you are expected to possess the following skills and knowledge:

  • Self-motivated with a proactive 'can do' attitude, capable of leading a team independently in an organized and methodical manner.
  • Able to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic, and demanding environment.
  • In-depth knowledge and experience in designing Baby & Kids products.
  • Extensive market knowledge and aspirational gifting expertise in the Baby & Kids domain.
  • Exceptional presentation skills for creating trend and mood boards that are clear and creatively engaging.
  • Proficient in freehand drawing and the Adobe Suite.
  • Strong range-building capabilities, balancing innovation with commercial viability.
  • Understanding and experience in creating detailed specification documents for accurate manufacturer briefs.
  • Collaborating with key buying, merchandising, and technical teams to fulfill briefs effectively.
  • Commercially savvy to ensure that creative designs align with broader business objectives.
  • Knowledge of designing products that are visually appealing online.
  • Able to maintain high levels of creativity and quality execution under pressure and tight deadlines.
  • A broad understanding of customer styles, with the ability to challenge and expand product opportunities.
  • Experience working with licensing partners is advantageous but not mandatory.
  • Strong communication skills that are clear, concise, and dynamic.
  • Willingness to travel as required.
