Child Psychiatrist

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Consultant Psychiatrist to join our team at Southern Health NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will be responsible for providing comprehensive psychiatric services to children and adolescents, working closely with other healthcare professionals to deliver high-quality care.
Main Responsibilities- Provide clinical leadership and expertise in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, working collaboratively with other teams to ensure seamless care.
- Conduct comprehensive assessments and develop treatment plans for children and adolescents with mental health problems, including moderate to severe mental health issues, first-episode psychosis, neurodevelopmental disorders, and intellectual disabilities.
- Work closely with other clinical staff to achieve high standards of risk assessment and general psychiatric assessments for all patients presenting to the service.
- Support the development of a seamless service and continuity of care, ensuring that patients receive the best possible outcomes.
- Provide clinical support and supervision to multidisciplinary teams, promoting a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
Southern Health NHS Foundation Trust is one of the largest NHS Foundation Trusts in the UK, specializing in mental health and learning disabilities, as well as offering physical health community-based services. We are currently working closely with other NHS Trusts to integrate all our collective community, mental health, and learning disability services. Our new organization, to be known as Hampshire and Isle of Wight NHS Foundation Trust, is set to launch in July 2024. The transformation will happen in staggered stages, with Hampshire CAMHS joining Southern Health in February 2024, and Isle of Wight NHS Trust mental health and community services transitioning in early May 2024. The final combination of Southern Health and Solent Trusts is anticipated to occur in July 2024, when the new organization will be formed.
Our new Trust will continue to cater to the unique needs of different communities, making healthcare across the county more accessible, as well as offering staff more opportunities for career development, training, and partnership working. We are excited to embark on this journey to shape the future of healthcare in Hampshire.
Person SpecificationWe are looking for a Consultant Psychiatrist with the following qualifications and experience:
- Full GMC Registration with license to practice
- Eligibility for inclusion on the Specialist Register via CCT in Child & Adolescent Psychiatry (or within 6 months at time of interview) or equivalent
- Section 12 Approval
- Approved Clinician status
- MRCPsych
Desirable qualifications include relevant higher degrees, such as an MD, PhD, MSc, or other additional clinical qualifications.
We are seeking a Consultant Psychiatrist with a high level of clinical experience and competence in Child & Adolescent Psychiatry, as well as knowledge of UK Hospital Systems and evidence of participation in CPD. The ideal candidate will have excellent written and oral communication skills, be able to take full and independent responsibility for clinical care of patients, and be able to manage their own time, workload, and prioritize clinical work.
