About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Childcare Practitioner to join our team, working with children and young people aged 4 to 18 with complex and profound additional support needs.

As a Childcare Practitioner, you will work one-on-one with our amazing young people, planning and creating engaging play and social activities tailored to their unique needs and interests.

Our Services

Term-Time: 14:45 to 18:00

School Holidays & In-Service Days: 08:00 to 18:00

Key Responsibilities

Activity Planning: Develop and implement fun and engaging activities that promote social interaction and skill development.

Comprehensive Care: Provide essential support, including moving and handling, personal care, and medication administration, ensuring the highest level of care and dignity.

Supporting Nutritional Needs: Assist with the safe consumption of healthy snacks, catering to dietary and nutritional requirements.

Creating Memorable Experiences: Develop a program of social activities tailored to each child's individual needs and preferences, using a variety of communication methods to engage and include them in a range of activities and experiences.

This role is as varied as the wonderful children and young people you will be working with, ensuring no two days are the same.

Requirements

We are looking for someone who:

Is fun, engaging, adaptable, and passionate about working with children and young peopleHas experience of working with children and young people within a play, care, or learning settingIs willing to work towards the SVQ 3 Social Services (Children and Young People) or already holds a suitable qualification

Before Confirming Your Appointment

You will be required to obtain Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) scheme membership through Disclosure Scotland.

As this role requires SSSC registration, the successful applicant will have three months to apply for registration. If appointed, you must start your application as soon as possible so you're registered within the required six months.

We particularly encourage applications from men, who are currently underrepresented within this type of work.
