Key Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of engineers to develop technically sound solutions for transportation infrastructure projects
  • Prepare and check designs, calculations, drawings, and documentation to ensure compliance with relevant technical standards and client requirements
  • Oversee the actions of junior engineers and take responsibility for their work
  • Manage project budgets and costs to ensure commercial success
  • Liaise with clients and suppliers at a senior level to ensure effective communication and project delivery
  • Contribute to the preparation of bids and the general work-winning function

Requirements

  • Developed experience and expertise in transportation engineering, preferably gained in an engineering role or equivalent
  • Able to produce technically sound engineering solutions, working unsupervised and supervising junior engineers
  • Experienced in managing health, safety, and welfare, including Amey's Integrated Management System and the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations
  • Capable of acting as the main engineering contact for projects, including Contractor's Responsible Engineer (CRE) for Network Rail schemes
  • Good working knowledge of relevant software and analytical tools
  • Demonstrates good commercial awareness
  • Has a good understanding of CDM and risk assessment, with experience in managing and communicating hazards and risks on projects
  • Successful completion of the professional review or end-point assessment, resulting in the award of Incorporated or Chartered status or an equivalent professional license
  • Incorporated or Chartered status or an equivalent professional license gained through the professional institution to which the individual is aligned is desirable and may be essential on particular contracts
