Job Summary

P+S Personnel is seeking a skilled Electrical Control Panel Engineer to join their team in Norwich on a full-time, permanent basis.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manufacture, install, commission, modify, maintain, and test electrical motor control centers (MCCs) and distribution switchboards in workshops and on customers' sites within the UK, offshore, and overseas.
  • Work to method statements and risk assessments specifically created for the task.
  • Carry out commissioning activities on motor starter panels, including variable speed drives, intelligent motor starters, electronic protection relays such as Schneider Easergy, Micom, etc.
  • Perform insulation resistance and high voltage pressure testing.
  • Develop excellent control panel wiring skills, including both looming and wiring in trunking.
  • Acquire excellent fitting skills for marking off, cutting, and drilling, etc.
  • Travel worldwide at short notice.
  • Protect and maintain local and global environments.
Requirements
  1. Electrical qualification such as an HNC, HND, or NVQ in Electrotechnology, Mechatronics, or equivalent.
  2. Previous experience in primary and secondary injection of thermal and electronic protection relays.
  3. Setting up and commissioning variable speed drives, electronic motor controllers such as Siemens Simocode, etc.
  4. Maintain a valid driving license.
  5. Maintain a valid passport.
  6. Pass an annual medical, OGUK.
  7. Pass a four-yearly offshore survival course (BOSIET or FOET).
  8. Participate in training courses.
  9. Read and participate in company announcements on electronic notice boards.
  10. Comply with the conditions and contract of employment.
Working Hours & Benefits
  • Normal workshop hours are 08:30 to 16:45, Monday to Friday, with the possibility of overtime when the workload permits.
  • Hours on site are specified by the client and could be up to 12 hours per day, especially offshore.
  • Auto-enrolment pension scheme, contributions matched up to 5%.
  • 25 days annual leave, with 3 of these taken over the Christmas/New Year holiday period when the workshops are closed.
  • Additional payments for weekend, overseas, and offshore work.
  • Ability to earn additional days off, lieu days, which can be carried over year after year.
  • Performance-related bonuses/gifts, etc.
